Principal's Message
Welcome to Thompson Junior High School!
Dr. Lakita McKinney comes to SD 308 with an extensive background in educational leadership spanning schools, nonprofit organizations, and independent consulting. She began her career as an elementary teacher in Chicago Public Schools in 2003 and has since served in roles including Resident Principal, Chief Administrative Officer/Head of Schools, and Parent Support Administrator. She later served as Executive Director of Program Implementation and Director of the Aspiring Leaders Program at New Leaders, and most recently as Managing Director of Networks for Leading Educators. Dr. McKinney distinguishes herself through her passion for student success, high-visibility leadership style, relational approach to building school culture, and her ability to balance accountability with genuine care for staff and students.
